I KNEW THAT SOMEDAY YOU WOULD LEAVE ME, I’D HAVE TO SET YOU FREE, WITH HOPE THAT ONE DAY YOU WILL SEE ME, GAZING AT YOU, HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW, WAITING TO CATCH YOUR EYE. HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW, WONDERING WHY, YOU EVER SAID GOODBYE. CAN’T WE GO BACK TO WHERE IT STARTED, WHEN WE HAD SONGS TO SING. BEFORE I JOINED THE BROKEN HEARTED, PEOPLE I KNEW, HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW, AS HARD AS I MAY TRY, HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW, MY LONELY CRY ECHOES YOUR GOODBYE. OUT OF MIND, BUT NEVER OUT OF SIGHT, FOREVER TRUE. HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SEE. HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW IS WHERE I’LL BE, WHEN YOU COME BACK TO ME.

Bring back my ringing phone, Don't want my beeping phone. I want my phone to ring Like mama's used to do. I can't stand that bleeping sound, Don't want that sound around. I want my phone to ring So I can talk to you. Our family telephone was hung up on the wall, In the kitchen right where everyone At home could hear it all. We spoke in secret codes, And travlin' through the wire, Were the words that somehow took the place Of words that meant desire! Bring back my ringing phone, Don't want that bleeping phone. I want my phone to ring Like mama's used to do. I can't stand that bleeping sound. Don't want that sound around. I want my phone to ring, So I can talk to you. And when my dad got mad He'd tear it from the wall, And "that made damn sure No one else would ever get a call!" But after dinner I would Fix those wires and then, In no time flat that phone was ringing Off the hook again! I miss my ringing phone. Give me that busy tone. Let me say "Operator, break in on the line!" Hello again, it's me- it's an emergency, I can't say goodnight until you Tell me that your mine. We'd talk for hours And we'd never say goodbye. I leave a message Now it makes me wanna cry, What I would give to hear That ringing in my ears, Now we say hello and hell, The whole world interferes. Bring back my ringing phone, Don't want my bleeping phone. I want my phone to ring Like mama's used to do. I can't stand that bleeping sound Don't want that sound around. I want my phone to ring So I can talk to you, The way we used to do.

Sometimes it don’t seem strange, Some things are meant to change. Still it’s a cryin’ shame, How things are not the same. Let’s go back to the red brick tappy, The red brick tappy back home. That old familiar tappy, Where my blue collar pappy, Would get a lotta happy, And come home scrappy. The draught was cold, And the food was crappy, But he never put a dent in his chrome, After sippin’ the sap, From the tip of the tap, At the red brick tappy back home. The side door sign at the red brick tappy Meant the ladies had a place of their own, To sit and sip a high ball, Catch a local fly ball, Or bounce a flirty eyeball, Through a dart hole in the dry wall. The smoke was thick, And the oak was sticky, Where everybody carried a comb. Whether pullin’ a leg, Or peelin’ an egg, In the red brick tappy back home. Sometimes it don’t seem strange, Some things are meant to change. Still it’s a cryin’ shame, How things are not the same. The shoes were sharp, And the shine was snappy Where the owner always answered the phone With conviction and heft, He's repeat "he just left" The red brick tappy back home The red brick tappy back home. Sometimes it don’t seem strange, Some things are meant to change. Still it’s a cryin’ shame, How things are not the same.

“The Old School” THE NEW SCHOOL BECAME THE OLD SCHOOL, AND THE OLD SCHOOL WAS GONE. THE NEW SCHOOL REPLACED THE OLD SCHOOL, AND TIME HAD MOVED ON. I REMEMBER EACH SEPTEMBER, HOW I CRIED ON THAT DAY, "DON’T TAKE THE OLD SCHOOL AWAY, PLEASE DON’T TAKE THE OLD SCHOOL AWAY". Once upon a time in a class called Civics, A local boy looks at a local girl and the local girl smiles back. His wildest dreams materialized, His thoughts now anything but civilized And yet upon him is his civic duty, To admire her civic beauty. In a class they once called civics When citizenship strolled hand in hand with penmanship, And love notes were written in the "Palmer Method". Civic minded males- Learning the complex structure of the simple sentence, Discovering the architecture of the complex female, Would open their hearts for one brief moment To see what might be. Offering the moon in as few words as possible: “May I speak with you after class?” Civic minded citizens under local statues of marble, Bare breasted reminders that truth and justice Is beauty and grace To be admired by all in a public place. Underlined with a Schaeffer pen In a class they once called Civics. (sings) THE NEW SCHOOL BECAME THE OLD SCHOOL, AND THE OLD SCHOOL WAS GONE. THE OLD SCHOOL BECAME THE NEW SCHOOL, AND TIME HAD MOVED ON. I REMEMBER EACH SEPTEMBER, HOW I CRIED ON THAT DAY, "DON’T TAKE THE OLD SCHOOL AWAY, PLEASE DON’T TAKE OLD SCHOOL AWAY".

“My White Flight” AFTER THE KIDS WERE ALL IN BED THAT’S WHEN EVERYTHING WAS SAID. FAR AWAY FROM TINY EARS, MY FATHER STOKED MY MOTHER'S FEARS. MY WHITE FLIGHT WAS COUCHED IN A LOT OF WHISPERED CONVERSATIONS, LIKE MILITARY OPERATIONS. UNDER COVER OF NIGHT, OPTIONS WERE WEIGHED, MAPS WERE SURVEYED. MY WHITE FLIGHT WAS FRAUGHT WITH INNUENDO, IN VOLUMES THAT WOULD DECRESCENDO. MY WHITE FLIGHT WAS WRAPPED IN A VEIL OF OPTIMISTIC SILENCE, LIKE A VICTIM WHO’S ESCAPING VIOLENCE. FAR OUT OF SIGHT, DECISIONS WERE MADE, PLANS WERE ALL LAID. MY WHITE FLIGHT THOUGH A HAIL OF SOCIAL REPERCUSSIONS, THAT ALL CONSPIRED TO BLAME THE RUSSIANS. I’LL FLY AWAY… I’LL FLY AWAY… MY WHITE FLIGHT IS TAKING OFF IN A HOPE OF ONE DAY LANDING N A STATE OF DEEPER UNDERSTANDING. INTO THE LIGHT BOLDLY I’LL DRIVE, SOON I’LL ARRIVE, MY WHITE FLIGHT FROM A PLACE LIKE EVERY OTHER, TO WHERE WE CAN LIVE WITH ONE ANOTHER. AFTER THE KIDS WERE ALL IN BED THAT’S WHEN EVERYTHING WAS SAID… BUT UNDER A BLUE AND GREY HUDSON BAY I HEARD YOU TALKING ANYWAY.

To Save You 03:05
IF I COULD I WOULD SAVE YOU, AND NEVER LET YOU GO. SAVE YOU, FROM THE HEARTACHE YOU KNOW. BUT ONLY YOU CAN BREAK THAT SPELL. DON’T I KNOW IT WELL. WOULD THAT I COULD- SAVE YOU, LIKE A CHARM UPON A SHELF. SAVE YOU, UNTIL YOU LEARN TO SAVE YOURSELF. KEEPING YOU IN A SPECIAL SPACE, IN A PRECIOUS PLACE, JUST IN CASE- I MIGHT SAVE YOU. STILL I WANNA SAVE YOU. SAVE YOU. STILL I WANNA SAVE YOU. STILL I WANNA SAVE YOU FROM HARM.

THERE’S A PILE OF DUST, THAT I’VE COME TO TRUST, WHERE THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD, YOU CAN FEEL IT COMIN’ AT YOU ON A BREEZE. IN A GENTLE GUST, YOU CAN TASTE THE RUST OFF A MIGHTY HEAVY LOAD, THAT WOULD BRING A WEAKER NATION TO ITS’ KNEES. I DON’T KNOW WHERE WE’LL ALL BE TOMORROW, BUT I THINK I KNOW WHERE WE ARE, AND WE’VE COME FAR. THOUGH SUCCUMB I MUST TO MY WANDER LUST, WHEREVER I MAY ROAM, I PROMISE YOU I’LL ALWAYS REMEMBER, THE PLACES I USED TO CALL HOME. I PROMISE YOU I’LL- I’LL ALWAYS REMEMBER… ALL OF THE GOOD THINGS, ALL OF THE BAD THINGS. ALL OF THE WRONG THINGS, ALL OF THE RIGHT THINGS. ALL OF THE BLACK THINGS, ALL OF THE WHITE THINGS, OH, TO REMEMBER EVERYTHING. OH, TO REMEMBER EVERYTHING. THERE’S AN EXTRA KEY AND A CUP OF TEA WHERE THE PHONE HUNG ON THE WALL AND A STORY YOU’LL FOREVER CALL TO MIND. IT’S A FALLING TEAR IN A GLASS OF BEER AT A PHOTO DOWN THE HALL, ON A KITCHEN TABLE YOU’D NEVER LEAVE BEHIND. I DON’T KNOW WHY WE KEEP ON MOVIN’ WHY DON’T WE ALL JUST STAY? I CAN’T SAY… BUT THERE’S A GUIDING LIGHT IN THE DARKEST NIGHT, WHEREVER YE MAY ROAM, WITH A PROMISE THAT WE’LL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE PLACES WE USED TO CALL HOME. I PROMISE YOU I’LL ALWAYS REMEMBER (I’LL ALWAYS REMEMBER) THE PLACES I USED TO CALL HOME.

Slainte Song 03:16
MOTHER DON’T LEAVE ON THE LIGHT, I WILL NOT BE HOME. ON A SHIP THAT SAILS TONIGHT, I AM OFF TO ROAM. YOU KNOW MY LOVE FOR YOU IS DEAR, THERE IS NOTHING FOR ME HERE, SO HERE’S TO THE LIFE I’M ABOUT TO BEGIN, SLAINTE AND SLAINTE, AND SLAINTE AGIN. FATHER DEAR THE TIME HAS COME, I MUST SAY GOOD BYE. FEAR NOT DA, YOU’VE TAUGHT ME WELL, MOTHER, DON’T YOU CRY. MY MIND IS SET, MY BACK IS STRONG, AND ONCE I LAND WHERE I BELONG, I'LL EARN ME A WAGE WITH THE STRENGTH OF TEN, SLAINTE AND SLAINTE, AND SLAINTE AGIN I’LL BE SAILING ON. FAR BEYOND THE IRISH SEA. SAILING ON, SISTER, SAY A PRAYER FOR ME. SAILING ON... WILL I GREET MY FORTUNE THERE? WILL I MEET WITH DEEP DESPAIR? WILL IT TEST MY FAITH IN GOD ABOVE? WILL I FIND MY ONE AND ONLY LOVE? SAILING ON, FAR BEYOND THE IRISH SEA. SAILING ON, TO WHERE SOMETHING BETTER WAITS FOR ME. SAILING ON, MOTHER DON’T LEAVE ON THE LIGHT, I WILL NOT BE HOME. ON A SHIP THAT SAILS TONIGHT, I AM OFF TO ROAM. I AM OFF TO ROAM. I AM OFF TO ROAM....

THERE HE GOES MY OLDEST FRIEND, DOWN THE STREET AROUND THE BEND, FOR WHO KNOWS JUST HOW LONG? WE SAY HELLO, WE SAY GOOD-BYE, AND IN BETWEEN WE PONDER WHY, OUR CONNECTION IS SO STRONG. YEARS HAVE PASSED WE BARELY SAID A WORD, DAYS HAVE PASSED REPEATING ALL WE'VE HEARD. THERE HE GOES MY DEAREST FRIEND, SO MUCH HISTORY I COULD SPEND, FOREVER REACHING BACK. WE LAID THE GROUND WORK YEARS AGO, WE LISTENED TO EACH OTHER GROW, AND HELPED EACH OTHER PACK. OUR DUTY STATIONS CHANGE ALONG THE WAY, BUT THERE'S NOTHING THAT MY FRIEND AND I CAN'T SAY. SINCE WE LIVE OUR LIVES WITH OTHER FRIENDS, OUR DAILY CORRESPONDENTS TEND, TO FEED OUR DAILY NEEDS. SO WE USE OUR TIME TOGETHER AS WE WOULD USE OUR TIME ALONE, JUST TO THINK OUT LOUD OR PULL OUT ALL THE WEEDS, THAT HAVE GROWN. THERE HE GOES MY CLOSEST FRIEND, WE NEVER CHOSE TO MAKE PRETEND, WE DID ALL THAT BEFORE. WE NOTICE EVERY SUBTLE CHANGE, WHEN ONE OF US IS ACTING STRANGE, WE KNOW WHAT'S AT THE CORE. WE VISIT THEN WE GO OUR SEPARATE WAYS, HE LEADS ME THROUGH THE EFFORTS OF MY DAYS, AND OFFERS ME PERSPECTIVE WHEN I FADE, INTO THE PLANS I'VE MADE. THERE HE GOES MY DEEPEST FRIEND, I'M GRATEFUL I CAN SAY MY FRIEND, IS ONE WHO WILL BE THERE. BUT WHO KNOWS WHEN WE'LL MEET AGAIN, ME AND MY OLDEST FRIEND, ARE JUST A TEMPORARY PAIR. OFF INTO THE WORLD TILL WHO KNOWS WHEN, MY OLDEST, DEAREST, DEEPEST FRIEND, I WILL WAIT FOR YOU TO COME AROUND THE BEND, AGAIN... BYE-BYE.

Some Gods 07:23
Some gods keep it all together for you, Other gods judge what some gods do. Go out and grab as many gods as you can, The younger you are the less you demand. Pay close attention to detail and design, Then you lay'em on thick or you lay'em on fine. I grieve when I'm happy and I grieve when I'm sad, So when the bottom falls out I bet it won't be so bad. For when one god crumbles then my world will erupt, When all my gods crumble then I'll know I've grown up. And what will i do when all my gods Are invisible like you? When all my gods are invisible like you. Imitation shatters The same thing that it flatters... Imitation shatters, The same thing that it flatters... Imitation shatters some gods, other gods...
