“To Any Boy Who Ever Loved”
Words & music by Michael Ogborn (c)1989

Two children take each other's hand
They work so hard to understand
What they are feeling when they feel
Each other's touch.
Their eyes are filled with something new
And yet they don't know what to do,
For there's been no one else who's
Ever loved as much.
They find a place where they can be together,
A place where they can both be free.
Now and forever they have carved it in a tree

To any boy who ever loved
And thought that love was just the time
He spent with her in some secluded rendezvous.
To any boy who ever lied
To any woman who has cried
To any child who is placed between the-

Two children take each others trust
A promise carved out of their lust
They ask no questions as they
Lie beneath the sun.

"Oh, may it always be like this.
May we remember every kiss.
Now and forever may we always be as one",

He doesn't understand
the words he's spoken.
He only know it feels unreal.
But there is no mistaking
All the love she'll feel.

To any boy who ever cried
To any woman at his side.
To beg forgiveness for
A selfish thing he's done.
To anybody who will hear
Nobody's past can disappear,
We act like children til there's
no place left to run.
To any promise that is kept,
To any secret that has slept,
May it remind you of
The places you have been.
And should there ever come a day
You self-redeem yourself away,
May you find answers in whatever
Web you spin.

My mistakes collected interest
Over time it's earned its keep.
In a soul that holds a wounded love
That runs so dark and deep.
So now I live on borrowed time
But I will not forsake it.
If Guellen wants my life to end
Then you will have to take it.

No longer guilty of this crime inside my heart I've done my time
I've grown responsible and made my peace above.
And so I stand here unafraid,
for in the choices I have made
I have discovered in forgiveness there is love.

We fail at love until we learn
That trust is something you must earn.
As children learn to trust
They must learn to forgive.
So many boys will fall apart
Before they learn to give their heart,
Why are we so afraid to open up and give?

To any boy who ever loved
And thought that love was just the time
He spent with her in some secluded rendezvous.
To any boy who ever lied,
To any woman who has cried,
To any child who is placed between the two-
Be sure your love is true.
And may fate
Be kind to you.
